Niamh Maclennan - formerly known as Niamhy Mac - is a young singer-songwriter and musician from the remote Wester Ross peninsula of Applecross in the Highlands. After moving to Edinburgh to study a contemporary music degree in Scotland's capital, Niamh now gigs regularly in the central belt of Scotland with a talented, energetic backing band, typically consisting of drum kit, bass guitar, backing vocals, lead electric guitar and keyboard. Her recent peformances have included two at Edinburgh's iconic Sneaky Pete's venue on the Cowgate, one of them being a headline gig on the 20th November 2023 which featured support from Glasgow - based Northern Irish Alternative Singer - Songwriter Mima Merrow in addition to Edinburgh - based Fife rapper MC Blance, with a more recent performance supporting acclaimed local folk Singer-Songwriter Calum Baird on the 25th January.

Niamh's new relatable and catchy single 'The Dreamer' is out on all major streaming platforms and available to buy on iTunes and Bandcamp on the 26th April, 12PM (UK Time)
The Dreamer conjures the teenage angst feelings of growing up: the pain that comes with no longer experiencing the intensity of life felt as a child. It opens with trademark harmonics leading via a dreamy mellotron to a reverberant 90s R&B groove, musically narrating feelings of nostalgia. This song juxtaposes the upbeat with poignant subject matter that often the inner world is preferable to the harshness of everyday life that so often disappoints. The soulful result is not inward looking at all but speaks to the feelings of the generation. Niamh can share a complex intangible feeling, transporting the listener to a different world. Her writing has developed in this way from her first releases at the age of seventeen under the name of Niamhy Mac. Her insightful words are echoed by her own breezy guitar style which is every bit as evident in The Dreamer as in all her previous releases.
