Niamh Maclennan is an artist from Applecross, now based in Glasgow, making music that feels intimate, moody and quietly self-assured. Built on layered vocals, smoky guitars and slow-grooving rhythms, her songs carry a cinematic sense of tension: soft in places, sharp in others. There’s something haunting but warm in the way she writes, balancing vulnerability with distance. With subtle nods to where she’s from and a sound that feels entirely her own, Niamh makes songs for over thinkers, night drives, messy feelings, and moments you can’t quite name.

Homebody, the latest single.
Homebody has already received praise on BBC Radio Scotland, being described as "effortlessly cool". The single is a collaboration with Mandy Clarke (bass), Jenny Clifford (guitar), Stephen Buggy (drums and percussion) and Anna Cooper (keyboards and backing vocals).
Escape
Escape is an ode to the transformative power of music, and has already recieved praise from the likes of Rock Era Magazine and Rotate Magazine.
The Dreamer conjures the teenage angst feelings of growing up: the pain that comes with no longer experiencing the intensity of life felt as a child. It opens with trademark harmonics leading via a dreamy mellotron to a reverberant 90s R&B groove, musically narrating feelings of nostalgia. This song juxtaposes the upbeat with poignant subject matter that often the inner world is preferable to the harshness of everyday life that so often disappoints. The soulful result is not inward looking at all but speaks to the feelings of the generation. Niamh can share a complex intangible feeling, transporting the listener to a different world. Her writing has developed in this way from her first releases at the age of seventeen under the name of Niamhy Mac. Her insightful words are echoed by her own breezy guitar style which is every bit as evident in The Dreamer as in all her previous releases.
